They had everything to gain in the club, all they had to do was toe the line. Why were they kicked out? because they didn't toe the line.
Or because they are still in the club and want to squeeze every last dime out of people for the war. Also USA, Russia and other countries have elections next year and they all benefit from ramping up fear. EU people can get fucked into green energy because Russian gas and oil are bad. Etc. etc.
Why don't you post something that actually provides some crumbs for this conjecture instead? What you posted makes exactly the opposite point.
