I think the error that is often made when looking into Hitler and the 3rd Reich is to.assume it was monolithic, like Communism. It was not. Germany from 1933 to 1945 was a loose coalition of Department/Faction/Military Leaders in constant competition with each other, and each looking to build their own fiefdoms, all presided over by Hitler, who ruled by suggestion and dictate rather than firm policy decisions.
David Irving has.suggested that the SS perpetrated the death camps largely without Hitlers knowledge, orchestrated by Himmler. He also suggests that.Himmler had to know about the 1944 bomb plot to kill Hitler (Operation Valkyrie).
Martin Bormann did call a meeting with the titans of German industry (Krupp, Siemens, AEG, IG Farben etc) at a hotel in 1943 (which he did not attend, but sent an aid) where he ordered wealth and IP be evacuated from Germany, as he felt the war was lost, and said that the war would be extended until this could be accomplished.
Himmler was talking to the OSS in Switzerland since about 1943 about surrender.
The book "OP JB " by Christopher Creighton insists British commandos extracted Bormann from Berlin in 1945, after Hitlers suicide.in the bunker.
I suspect Hitler was slowly co-opted and compromised by manipulation, drugs and other means until he was largely a symbolic figurehead from 1943-1945, with day-to-day decisions mostly being made by Martin Bormann.
It still remains to be understood how the Germans were.able to make such tremendous technical progress during the war-inventing Night Vision, Smart.bombs, cruise missiles- and according to recent research (Ranier Karlsch for.one) even building a nuclear weapon a year before the USA.
I think understanding the origin of some of this tech (in my opinion, recovered/reverse engineered ancient tech in some instances) and the massive intel agency cover-ups that had to result from the Allied doscovery of this tech at the end of the war- is key to making sense of what happened .
Hitler was supposedly obsessed with the ark of the covenant, the holy grail, the lance of longinus, alchemy, and Nazca lines. I have no doubt he unearthed or revived long lost technology.
