Indeed a moment where they actually won't be able to walk the streets. Real visceral fear.

Definitely plausible. We all have theories, based on research, that point out similar theories that the podcasters and anons have come up with. I think that, what happens could very well be along these lines, give or take some details. I would love to see it done MOAB- style, assuring the total destruction of the DS and their cronies.
The ads personally don't bother me. I hear ads on many different podcasts, including the Badlands podcasts, and just let them go on by. Dave usually has two ads per podcast, and both last about a minute.
