Thoery: The price of diamonds was being held up so that it would be an attractive alternative to precious metals. Precious metals were being held down so they would be unattractive as an alternative to fiat. A rug pull on diamonds is, first, going to piss off anyone who was holding them and, second, going to increase demand (and thereby increase the price) for whatever the next best option to serve the same purpose would be. Silver and Gold?
