To be honest I disagree with your statement, modern reform Judaism has in many ways become a moral practice over a God believing one. They think that they are somehow participating in saving the world thru tikkun olam.
One particular Jewish (former) friend of mine informed me that "we don't believe the stories in the torah are true or real, they're just allegories to teach us about the right way to live." So Moses didn't meet God, etc etc they're all just Aesops fables
And no surprise, he's an atheist Jew.
