I am am unvaccinated and anti vax. But I'm curious about this. I have seen various estimates claiming that deaths among the death are up from 75% to 1000%. As insurance rates tend to be based mostly on the probabilities of health expenses, shouldn't we be expecting the amount we pay for insurance rates to go through the roof already?
Does it more than 2 years to reassess risks? Are governments secretly subsidizing these industries? What are your thoughts regarding this?
edit: cancer is particularly one health risk that is reported to have greatly increased. Cancer treatment is one of the most expensive medical costs, and I think we would see a change in insurance premiums if it has gone up as much as some are reporting.
Normally those are different companies collecting separate premiums.
Yes they are. Life insurance companies would be paying out when people die. Young people dying means payout > premiums collected.
Yes. I am just pointing out that the original post is asking about HEALTH insurance rates not skyrocketing. My answer to that is that health insurance might not be effected from people dying suddenly. If i have a long drawn out health problem, the insurance company has to pay out a lot of money. If I die quickly without much notice then there is not much money spent on treatment etc. So this quick death would not be reflected in increased HEALTH insurance premiums, but might be reflected in increased LIFE insurance premiums.
I see your point. I'm not sure why I was thinking life insurance.
Excess policy holder deaths would reduce the amount of income to a health insurance provider, which would require them to raise their rates. The regulations from Obamacare required health insurance to cover everything and accept everyone, which is why they mandated that everyone carry health insurance. When fewer people are paying in, regardless of the amount of payouts, premiums and deductibles would rise.
Interesting perspective, I was not recognizing the possibility of excessive policy holder deaths reducing health insurance provider income. I was looking at it as a net positive for the insurance company if the deaths are quick they reduce their expense for treatment. Thank you for clarifying.
