Using the word "zombies", while colorful, is not quite it. What happens is the higher parts of the brain are taken off line, so to speak. You lose some of your humanity, mostly those things that make life worth living. Your animal parts are intact, so you don't die. You are just "less" of a human. Maybe we should call these brain altered people "humanoids". Probably better.
