When I go to a store with "self checkout" machines I load them up with all the change I have collected regardless of the total. The machine will then give me all new coins to search through for keepers.
In the last month I have received three nickles (1964, 1964, 1953) and one Mercury dime (1943).
It's like playing the lottery, but you don't lose.
You can go to the bank and trade cash for coin rolls.
One time I traded a hundred dollar bill for 10 half dollar roles. That's 200 coins in total.
Out of that I got 15 silver Kennedys and 4 Franklin halves. That would have cost over $100 by itself at a coin shop or on eBay. I just rolled up the non-silver stuff and traded it back for cash.
