It takes a lot of time to develop this stuff. Lieber had patents going as early as 2006, and unfortunately they've probably been experimenting on unknowing people for quite a while (whether it was him or someone else).

The drummer played in the band from 2001-2003, and this song came out in 1996.
The crime he was arrested for happened in 2009.
He should absolutely rot in jail, but the rest of the band doesn't have anything to do with it.
