It's nice that someone with more than two brain cells is watching the conflict. I say that having spent a lot of time on X trying to build the community there and, ummm, let's just say there's a reason you don't run into a lot of Ukraine flags around here
Well, perhaps 1 1/2 brain cells, let's not go overboard!
Seriously though, it was a bit of a surprise to me when Putin kicked off the Special Military Operation (SMO) and the first thing I did was to spend some time and effort digging into the reasons for it.
The whole show has been an eye-opener for me.
I served in the British Army '72-'95 and always thought that NATO was a defensive structure and that Russia (post Soviet Union) was evil. I now realise that following the break up of the Warsaw Pact (when the USA lied when they promised that NATO would not expand eastwards) NATO are ultra aggressive and want to keep expanding their (ie, US) influence - eg, the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan and now, the final straw for Putin, Ukraine.
So there we have the main reason for the SMO. Plus of course Ukraine's relentless attacks on ethnic Russians in the Donbass (14,000 civilians dead) following the USA led coup in 2014.
What astounds me more than anything are the wall-to-wall lies being sold to the sheep by the MSM at the behest of their masters.
You also need to look into the US-led coup in 2014. The Maidan protests and the hired snipers to shoot at both sides to create a violent reaction.
The result was that the Russian-facing government was ousted and the one selected by Victoria Nuland was inserted. That allowed the NAZIs to shell the ethnic Russians in Donbas - for eight years!
Ukraine promised not to do that in the Minsk Agreements and broke those agreements even though they were supported by France and Germany. Merkel later said that they were just playing for time to get Ukraine armed - and they wonder why Putin does not trust them!
There was a rumour that Ukraine was about to implement a final push on Donbas and that is when Putin said: "No more!"
IntelSlavaZ on Telegram was real informative back when this started. I haven't looked since i deleted TG when Gregg from Truethevote warned about it. Still don't know what that was all about. Prolly bullshit kek.
