To drive home the point they consider it politically motivated persecution. What I don't understand is why the committee didn't agree to public questioning. They look shady like the Democrats when they do things closed doors.
The public doesn’t have security clearances. As a result, Congress can’t ask any sensitive questions in open testimony. It’s typical to have a closed door session first and in any case, Hunter doesn’t get a choice; it’s grandstanding and delay.
So put it on a 24 hour tape delay so they can remove anything that actually endangers national security. But lets be honest, unless Hunter was trafficking in nuclear or military secrets or we the case relies on information from undercover agents or cooperating witnesses, the public interest in the truth far outweighs any security concerns.
In public questioning the pols spend their 5 minutes of allotted time making speeches that they think will gain them political support and sound bites to raise $$. In a closed door hearing they ask questions without all the bull shit speeches and get answers and have unlimited time. Then they do their public theatrics after that in an open hearing.
One I get to hear the answers, the other I don't get to hear them. The quickest way to make me suspect you're cheating me, besides telling me things I know aren't true, is to do things behind closed doors.
