Sundar Pichai, the CEO of parent company Alphabet, announced the layoffs in a memo to staff on Friday.

Sorry 🤦‍♀️ I didn't notice that. I saw it the other day, and when I saw another post about google I went looking for the article I saw in passing. So when I was looking, the articles in the search were mostly saying in the last 1 - 2 days ago that they were posted, so I grabbed one that didn't have a subscription to view the article.
