I think Trump is saying this now because he is being advised that Vivek is doing much better in Iowa than anticipated. He might be successfully taking some of and splitting Trumps votes. It would be a mistake to underestimate Vivek and his gaining popularity. I believe it might be a good move if Trump could recruit him as his VP.
