A couple of observations.

Signal has defied the backdoor access to encryption schemes in the UK.
Signal has turned up nothing when user date is demanded.

Meaning, it is not a platform the dictators of this world would want you to use. It probably outlived its usefulness and is a direct threat to the desired policies of total control.

And then: funding is pulled.
