Dimension: The number of entries in a spatial vector that are linearly independant of each other.
Putting two 1D lines ontop of the other SPAWNS the second dimension, as someone originally on one line must travel this newly invented "up" direction to get to the next line.
IMO, you talk dimensions when you want to SOUND smart. Its actually not the worst to learn (a kid can teach it), it just hard to PICTURE it.
