State officials agreed to settle with the Church of Compassion and Dayspring Christian Learning Center Tuesday for nearly $200,000 after trying to exclude the church from the state’s preschool lunch program.

Hidden in the article: the "nearly $200,000" settlement nets $30,000 for the school but $160,000 for the lawyers. Sad.

(I'd think some cases should just be pro-bono, but - I'd rather the ADF lawyers in this case have it than California's government. At least it actually went to defend the Bill of Rights :)
