Study: Thousands of Companies Are Monitoring Every Facebook User

A recent study by Consumer Reports, in collaboration with The Markup, has unveiled the extensive scale of data tracking aimed at Facebook users. Some users in the study were tracked by as many as 7,000 companies.

I don't use Facebook or Twitter. But we shouldn't be slapping ourselves on the back. Every single post on this site is monitored and most likely linked back to your real identity. I doubt there are many places online that aren't being monitored. I don't trust VPN's either. If the establishment didn't have access to them, they wouldn't be allowed to operate.
