Comms or pre-programming. People are stupid so when the [DS] does something, they default to the explanation that was provided to them ahead of time.

Life hack: you can toss your shoes onto a power line to keep from losing internet during a solar storm.

Edit: for people that don't get the joke, don't do that and watch "Wag the Dog".
