That's because cholesterol numbers are meaningless with regards to heart disease. If we are going to look at labs, triglyceride:HDL ratio is the best predictor.

Otherwise, get a coronary artery calcium scan.

Cholesterol is elevated when the body is trying to address damage somewhere. Trying to force down cholesterol is like shooting the firefighters as they're trying to put out the fire.
