About 4 years ago, went to DC for first time. Was on a company trip my wife earned.
Had the same gut feeling Sundance had. Pure evil and absolutely everyone is a spawn of lucifer.
Anyway, was staying at 4 seasons hotel in Georgetown. Between the hotel and the steakhouse is an outdoor patio area where you can smoke cigars.
I went and sat down at a table 2 other men in suits were at. Asked the waiter for a glass with ice and when it came?
Took the cranberry juice and vodka from my backpack and made a drink.
They chuckled at the redneck Texan before them and said, "pretty sure you are not allowed to do that."
I replied, "oh, trust me. I am actually staying here at this hotel. If I want to make my own drink at their patio, I can"
They viewed me with disgust, but it gets better.
We banter about for the next hour. They think I am a redneck but they are sophisticated.
They question my knowledge of cigars. I am smoking a less than 10 dollar cigar, a JFR Titan Corojo. One of my daily drivers at 8 bucks a stick.
They are smoking 100 dollar Cuban Cohiba's.
I explain to them they are smoking a truly garbage cigar. Not even a 2 dollar smoke and how damn ignorant they are.
Then after they push me, I reply back about how toxic tobacco is for the soil and proper crop rotation, which Cuba has not done since Castro took over.
Yes, I explained. Cuban tobacco prior to 1960's was the best in world, but that day has long since passed.
K Street lawyers, dumb as a rock smoking shitty cigars and clueless, but so damn certain.
Anyway, during this long conversation with these 2 people I absolutely hated, I notice this young man keeps serving them, but he is dressed differently than the other waiters.
So, I asked the lawyers, "is that guy serving you drinks, a waiter for the steakhouse?"
No, they replied. "One of our interns".
Wow, I so wanted to just beat the hell out of both of them at that moment, but was there as a guest for a trip my wife won at her company.
DC and the people there are evil.
Well, not everyone of course, right?
If you like Napolitano Pizza, the best I have ever had in my life is right around the corner.
IL Canale. It is off 31st right around corner of 4 seasons hotel. If you go there ask for the owner to come to your table and explain what it means to be a true Napolitano pizzeria in the USA.
He will be animated and fun to listen to.
You had pizza? In DC? 😲
