You're probably right. I used to try hard to watch "my team" every week and follow along with happenings through the week and off season. Then the team's owners picked up a diversity hire for a head coach. I got frustrated. Then the coach hired more diversity hires while exhibiting incompetence which lead to more frustration. Then the kneeling happened and it was easy to completely walk away. Combine that with fully waking up 3 years ago and, as much as I appreciate athletics, competition, and the connections with others that football created, I find patriotism is a more genuine and fulfilling pursuit. I've pretty much given up on all major sports. I'd rather go to a high-school or ammature event then watch anything professional these days.
