Ive heard that chicken-hawk Hannity drone on and on about “peace thru strength”, and its absolute bullshit.
Think about it… if “peace thru strength” was actually a winning strategy, then everyone else would try to replicate it, by buying even bigger guns etc.
Theres no end to the ramping up of military force, and quite honestly, countries like Russia would be foolish NOT to escalate their military capability, simply for their own self-defense, especially given the history of USA invading and occupying countries that appear to be weak.
Viet Nam appeared to be weak, so the USA decided to attack Viet Nam. As one vietnamese person said, “if the Americans had done 5 minutes of research, they would have quickly discovered that the Vietnamese people have been successfully resisting Chinese subjugation for over 1000 years”
So what happened?
America lost 58,000 troops, in a pointless war, because the Americans wanted “peace thru strength”, when in fact it was the vietnamese who achieved peace thru strength.
It's a fine line for sure. You'd think though with how much we spend we should have about 50 aircraft carriers loaded down. But no, we have 11. We built like a dozen during ww2...

Strength is not always about the biggest guns or the most troops.
Mm I think big guns are cool. Just not spending a trillion every year on them that's kinda lame.
Me, too, but "speak softly and carry a big stick."
