Actually, if you look back at "sci-fi" movies from 80's & 90's, you can start picking out where they were "in your face" with stuff thinking they'd never get caught. Ghostbusters for example, opening scene with Venkmen giving shock to the poor college student that couldn't remote view what was on the cards facing away from him. Also same movie with the line "Einstein did his best work as a parent clerk" - (was he stealing patent ideas while inventors were accidented??). All kinds of parallels pop up.
