Novak (Novax) Djokovic is NOT. a U.S. citizen and did NOT play in the U.S. Open Tennis tournament in 2022, but won in 2023.
Travel requirements changed as below:

Novak Djokovic withdraws from the US Open. He is unvaccinated against Covid-19 and not allowed to receive a visa and enter the country https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/25/tennis/novak-djokovic-out-2022-us-open-spt-intl/index.html
Hope this is helpful.

Not required for non-immigrants or illegal immigrants, but it is being required for green card applicants. Which is why Novak Djokovic can visit the country temporarily, but families who have spent years applying (like me) have been denied immigration visas even though the E.O for covid-19 was dropped in May 2023.
Got it - didnβt realize about the green card/immigrant part. πππ
