For the record I view bank branch closings the same way I viewed camera film developing locations closing. They're largely relics and save safe deposit boxes nearly everything they do ought to be able to be done more quickly online or at an ATM.
As a bit of context, at the risk of being called a shill, in the last 6 years Chase bank has entered 25 new States and opened over 220, of a planned 400, new branches, making it the first giant evil bank to operate in all the lower 48 States.
The banks want people to do online banking. Hence less physical branches. I have not gone to my bank branch in 5 or 6 years. I don't trust online banking. However, it was when I was using atms drive ups and going into my bank, that I had a bank fraud problem of a South American charging my account for several airline tickets. Seems a gamble no matter what path

Just wanted to point out that anyone using "online banking" is a fool.
