He should have added that he is not suicidal. Praying he stays safe from harm, and that he has a good security team with him on his trip and when he comes back home. I don't put it past the DS to try something shady.
I think noone mentions it for optics, to not look weak and to not let it effect the message as that would be effective for the ds and encourage more of that sort of thing from other groups or copy cats etc.
