If you trust a dictator to have an impartial trial instead of using this as a weapon to instill fear and submission in the population, then I have some oceanfront property in Arizona I'd like to sell you. I know that it's frustrating watching people you perceive to be guilty getting off, but those protections are there in place to stop a much worse alternative which is a government that abuses the court systems to execute people who oppose it. We have a prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment for a good reason a damn good reason. We don't want to be in a situation where whoever is in power gets to basically say what the law is and make up bullshit accusations throw you in front of a corrupt judge who's just going to go along with it because he's been paid off or threatened or whatever, and now all of a sudden you've got an innocent man being castrated or tortured or executed or what the fuck ever kind of horrible thing the devil puts into people's heads.

The argument could easily be made that they’ll imprison and castrate their opposition. Your argument has no merit. Rapists have the highest recidivism rate of any crime. They destroy lives. If your argument is let criminals off lightly because a tyrant might abuse their power, guess what? They’re going to abuse it anyway and make up whatever charges or crimes suit their purposes. The guilty should face an adequate punishment. Death penalty for rapists is not cruel or unusual; it’s justice. If you don’t want a tyrant abusing their power, overthrow the tyrant. Don’t create more victims from weak laws and penalties. Punish the guilty.
