Pryor was originally slated to play Sheriff Bart, but due to his cocaine problems in the news at the time, they decided to go with Cleavon Little. And the rest is cinematic history.
In certain respects this is the greatest comedy film ever made.
NGL, I watched her whole schtick, and I gotta say it wasn't that bad folks. It seemed more geared toward calming down the pearl-clutching, nervous liberals afraid to see anything where racial insults are flying.
She points out that the racial epithets are all used by people portrayed as small-minded, ignorant and bigoted (true), while the two protagonists (Little and Wilder) are the bringers of the real message of the movie, which is obviously unity and teamwork.
