It is not up to him to say what the jury would find. That is why we have juries!

Well-meaning?? That's a stretch! He can read minds??

Gross negligence at the minimum, and he was a lot younger when he DID THIS!

Try him, find him guilty, then take into account his age and debilities in the sentencing. That's the way it works.
