I have a question friends. My 66 yo dad was diagnosed with diabetes and im curious if its curable. I dont trust medical.
🧐 Research Wanted 🤔
Some diabetes medications seem to do more harm than good. He is otherwise healthy. He did get 2 jabs and lost some weight after he stopped driking liquor. Os there anything he can do besides entering the medical world to treat/cure and getting on those scary meds? Thanks agead of time. I know this isnt the place but i yrust yall more than anywhere else. Thats crazy in and of itself 🤣
this is fairly recent. this is what i know. my dad is very stubborn so bear with me here. He was thinking he was having uti and hadnt been to a dr in 30 years before the 2 jabs well the pain wasnt going away so he went to urgent care and they did a urine sample and found out he has glucose in his urine that is causing him some type of pain and his blood sugar was 200. since then he watched 2 netflix shows and is basically trying to figure out all of this on his own and still putting off making a primary care appt. so ive conviced him i think to at least get a monitor so we can go from there. im gonna assume its type 2 because his parents both had it, but metformin did some really nasty things to his mother, so i understand him being scared. to be honest im a little exasperated.
im worried hes gonna try to manage this himself with extremely limited answers, so if possible i would like to know how to best help nudge him along. sorry this is also me slightly venting. i care about my dad a whole fing lot as im sure yall understand. i know this isnt much to go on so thanks for replying guys, seriously. i dont know what to trust anymore in an area like this because i dont trust medical much anymore, and ive been witness to what metformin can do, and so has he
There is some good advice above. Transitioning to a keto / carnivore diet will help immensely. Some people even need to fast to Kickstart the weight loss. Which will really help get the insulin resistance under control. Some light and steady exercise will also help the body lose some insulin resistance. People that lose excess weight are much more likely to have lower insulin resistance, thus helping a person keep from taxing their pancreas too much. Dr. Edberg and Dr. Berg on YouTube are fantactic resources. The real benefit to a low carb diet is that eventually you lose the craving for bad foods! And hunger pangs seem to be much more manageable. That is because the body recognizes its fat stores as fuel and doesn't compel you to eat so urgently.
