Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Finished the first season of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. 23 episodes plus one side-story OVA.
I...God, I'm conflicted about this one.
On one hand, this was far more entertaining and enthralling than I expected, because the protagonist's previous life, which is so often flashed back to, is so relatable to my own. At least I had an excuse--he didn't, heavy bullying aside. But he recognized his second chance and didn't waste it so far, which is commendable, and he's going out of his way to not repeat his past mistakes--though his old flaws certainly show up every few episodes, they don't get in the way of more important things. There are no Mary Sues or Gary Stus or whatever--everyone has flaws, certainly the protagonist's new father.
On the other hand...as I noted in my previous recaps, there are just too many red flags to ignore. Of all the names the author chose for a certain warrior woman, he chose Ghislaine? It's even pronounced correctly, with the silent S! Not to mention a guy named Sauros, who, while an asshole, gets blamed for something horrible that wasn't his doing and is punished severely for it, which just makes me think how George Soros isn't the tippy-top of the pyramid, bad as he is.
This is going to sound weird, but...I really think that you all need to watch this show.
I'm serious. With all that I stated above, I want everyone on GAW to check this anime out. Maybe you'll catch something I missed.
I even considered making an actual post for this recommendation, but didn't think it was Q-related enough--should I do so anyway? I feel like more eyes need to be on this series, knowing what we know now.
That being said, I don't want Crunchyroll to get your money, either...yet I feel like even just recommending piracy would be a violation of the rules, even without stating how or where. Maybe if the site has a free trial?
For the record, I watched it on Blu-Ray, legally purchased a while ago.
Okay, I started watching the show. It was quite nice for the first 2 episodes and I was starting to enjoy it. Then in the third season they actually show full frontal nudity of kids. That should be illegal even in an anime and definitely not something I can continue watching.
Whoa. That...I got nothing. What the fuck. Loss for words.
(edit after some time to think)
I don't blame you one bit for stopping.
Starting to see why the original author used a pen name...
Hmm .. you didnt see the scene? Perhaps it was censored on blu-ray ? This was when he meets the girl with long ears and green eyes who was being bullied, and they start becoming friends and once they get caught in rain and come back to his place to take shower.
No, I only saw the first season, as I said in my opening line.
...Oh, you mean the third episode.
Um, yeah, I forgot about that. I didn't like that either. That was before I really started to notice the signs...
Still, again, can't blame you. I'm sorry I recommended it.
