Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
My son goes to Thailand. He said the street food there is second to none- and cheap! They have 7/11s there but they sell much healthier food. You can eat all day for well under $10. He said people are so kind there. There are so many that everyone is courteous to each other, like Japan.
Thailand is great the money conversion is about 35 to 1 so you can eat for about 3 days on 10 bucks lol.....moving to Koh Samui soon...:)
My son is moving this year! Everything is sooooo cheap. Round trip flights around that part of the world for well under $200. The food, though, and the MMA events are what he talks so much about. Maybe you guys will run into each other. He’ll stick out like a sore thumb 😄. He’s a big man. He also mentioned all of the beautiful cats there. The Thai people see them as a sign of good luck or prosperity, I can’t remember which. They’re free roaming and the people feed them and love them. It’s so cool!
and yes my girl there feeds about 7 of them hahaha
yes from bangkok over to Samui you can take the ferry or a plane flight is about 50 bucks. I am not such a big guy but it would be cool to run into another immigrant lol. the house i am looking to get looks amazing and converted its about 286000, 3 br 2 bath a pool and you can pee in the ocean from there lol.....it is an amazing place if you have never been there GO.....lol.. yes cats are a big thing there
My son said something about foreigners not being allowed to own property there, so please research before you drop the money. I’m so happy for you guys. It’s bittersweet, though. My son, and I’m guessing you, have lost hope that America is the greatest country on earth. She’s down right now, but she will be That shining city on a hill once again. My advice to my son is to never give up your American citizenship. The rest of the world is a different place and you currently have guaranteed rights, even though those rights are being trampled on now. Good luck and God bless you both!
