Newer cars with crumple zones are much safer than the lead sleds of old. I'm not defending EVs in any way way, it may be the case the weight exceeds the safety of crumple zones.
I didn't know that EVs were heavier and I didn't know that occupants were safer in the heavier car when in a collision.
