When my boys were young (they're now 30 down to 26) my husband and I attended a James Dobson's class at my church, Bringing up Boys. I was shocked back then at how much popular culture was demeaning masculinity. They showed us commercials where the wife was the smart one and the husband was a bumbling idiot and tv shows and movies that did the same. It was systematic even back then.
