Holy Father, today feels special to me. Plenty of novelties, except regarding my job and my family. Maybe it’s these people fixing my flat’s boiler who sent my chilled body a warm message that was interpreted as the long-awaited return of spring. I praise You for this feeling of having new perspectives regarding creative ways to enjoy life. I pray everyone exhilaratingly feels something similar.
AGENDA
Today we celebrate Serenus the Gardener.
According to pious legend, he was born in Greece; quit his life there and decided to live a celibate life of penance and prayer; emigrated to Sirmium, Pannonia in the Roman Empire (presently Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia); purchased, cultivated, and lived off of a garden there; and was known for his horticultural skill. He rebuked the wife of a Roman imperial guard for walking in his garden with her daughters, this purportedly being contrary to the mores of the time without male accompaniment. Her pride wounded, the wife informed her husband of the affair in writing, and he reported Serenus to Emperor Maximian, who gave the husband a letter to deliver to the governor of Pannonia that permitted the governor to remedy the supposed injustice. On the testimony of Serenus to the governor, the husband retracted his accusation and the governor judged Serenus innocent of insulting the wife. However, the governor suspected from the words of Serenus' testimony that he might be a Christian, and inquired of his religion. When Serenus testified to being one and refused to sacrifice to the Roman gods, the governor had him decapitated on 23 February 307.

See you tomorrow, Frens!🤓
Amen. Happy to hear your heat is working and Spring is in the air.
Mary!🤗💐
As we had some leeks remaining in the fridge, I cooked them as a soup without blending them: I usually take the whites, slice them 2 inches by 2 inches, then cut them lengthwise into 2 x 2 pieces so they feel like noodles.
I added a bit of diced celeriac, garlic and water and let it boil gently for an hour and a half. Then I added a pair of smoked sausages to cook along for half an hour. The first day, I just ate the sausages and drank a pint of that excellent broth.
The second day, I added some edamame beans, 2 sliced onions and half a chicken. This cooked for one hour and a half, then sat on the induction until lunch time. I could not get the chicken in one bit, the bones were not tied to the meat anymore. It tasted surreal: despite having used no cabbage, this exactly felt like Potée Auvergnate , including the texture!🤩
Today I am finishing it with yet the other half of the chicken.😋
Okay. After seeing the article and pictures, NOW I'M HUNGRY.
The smell made the cats crazy, they come every two minutes meowing at me then rubbing their heads on my shoes.🤩💐
Even the cats know a good thing when they smell it. Hope you save them a few scraps of it or at least some of the broth to lap up.
I am a really bad cat-Dad: I let them climb on the table during lunch and give them some bites on the table. Can’t resist their cuteness. They even get to lick the bowl after I eat my fromage frais with heavy cream. 🥺💐
They must love you dearly. I don''t share my table with any animals per se, but I do give Izzy some bits of food when the meal is over. If I didn't, she would sit on the floor and beg with a guilty look.
That look.🥺💐
You are such a good inventive cook. This sounds wonderful. Like something my grandmother Estelle would have made.
