The glorification of vice predates WWII. Wyatt Earp died in 1929 and actor Tom Mix was one of the pallbearers. Wyatt Earp was a saloon and gambling house owner and a pimp, and once got caught fixing a boxing match. From a libertarian perspective, drinking, whoring, and gambling should be legal as they don’t have involuntary victims of harm. Still, they shouldn’t be glorified. And fixing a gambling sport like boxing is obviously immoral:
Maybe the “Cowboys” Earp fought at the OK Corral were bad guys too, but that doesn’t make Earp good. Even in the movie Tombstone, the Earps walked to the Corral, bringing the fight to the Cowboys, to disarm them and supposedly to respond to some vague threats. The Second Amendment says that the Cowboys’ right to bear arms shall not be infringed. The movie tries to candycoat the unconstitutionality by saying the gun ban was Virgil’s idea that Wyatt went along with out of loyalty to his brother.
Yes. The rewrite of history is rampant in America. The psyop runs deep.
