Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I’m not sure about that. However, I do know that we do need minerals. So whatever way you need to do that, do it. You can buy trace minerals drops - from a natural path source, and those are the ones that you actually need. Or you can take some type of electrolyte. Unless you’re eating super healthy and getting your minerals from other sources, don’t become deficient in minerals. They are necessary for healthy bodies.
Edit; I didn’t read the entire article, but this will just give you an idea what I’m talking about.
These minerals you need: magnesium, sodium, potassium, calcium

So I did a LOT of research before getting my ZeroWater and it turns out your body does not get but a tiny amount of necessary minerals from drinking water. They are more from foods, like some are from leafy greens for instance (I forget which are in what). The mineral additions are therefore just pseudoscience and often expensive - though adding them for TASTE (I just adjusted to it, myself) is of course desired by many. The same goes for Himalayan pink salt - there are trace other minerals in there but not enough to actually make a dent in your body's needs for them.
Edit: And caution needs to be exercised with mineral supplements for water, too - some end up with stuff like arsenic, which they admit but say it's too low of an amount to matter (ahem, well, like the minerals then)(so possibly true)(but it's still weird to me)...these come in because of where they source the minerals basically.
Thanks for the info on your research. Good to know. 👏👏👏
The trace minerals that I get from my natural path doctor are probably different than ones you would get somewhere else. The vet their products very seriously. But it doesn’t make sense that a lot of different companies would not even care what’s in their trace minerals. It just sell them with the label on it saying “healthy” when they are not.
I think we're talking about two different things based on q-a's reply elsewhere? Like actual supplement, probably useful indeed, vs something just replacing what is filtered out of water, which would never be close to supplying you what you need if you didn't filter the water.
Yes agreed 👍
