Several thousand years of human history from Pharaoh, Alexander, Caesar, Suleiman, Genghis, Napoleon, Stalin, to Mao all disagree. Amusingly of those listed it was only Julius Caesar who actually paid a real price for what they did and it wasn't the people that did it, the people loved him, it was his fellow elite that did him in.
