Same with CO. I gave my kid melatonin just in case he needed it, and I had to have a doctor write a prescription. So ridiculous. Then he didn't have a choice to take it if he needed it, he was to visit the nurse every night to get it. I mean, it didn't hurt, but it's all or nothing with these things.
