I think that Johnson has made certain inroads because of the narratives he spouts and the catchphrases and ideas he talks about. In other words, he's been talking football to football fans. But even a cursory look through his web presence (facebook, his website, his content, etc) displays a serious predilection to self-aggrandizement and self-promotion.

Please take a look at my two recent posts (yesterday) particularly the one on Pscal Najadi, who is both promoting and being promoted by Johnson. Draw your own conclusions...
