Yet again, the Founding Fathers were talking about a direct democracy which is commonly referred to as "mob rule". We don't have a direct democracy. We have a representative democracy. They are not the same thing. I really don't understand why people don't understand this concept.
Could you tell me what you believe a democracy is and what a republic is?
I'm really interested in what you believe them to be. I honestly believe that many people have no clue what either are, and just go along with what others say.
I know the difference. I've explained in detail in my posts above.
But no one I've spoken to here has been able to explain their stance. Like you, they just say "We're a Republic!". Just saying "You're wrong!" doesn't prove I'm wrong.
I don't know why people respond to my posts if they don't want to have a conversation on the topic. Why is it so impossible to get anyone here to do something as simple as explaining what they think a democracy is?
Are you honestly unaware that there are different forms of democracy?
You realize that this is a subject that God only knows how many people have studied and written about for thousands of years.
I'm not just pulling all this out of my ass.
Here are some books on the history and nature of democracy, just in case anyone would actually like to, oh, I don't know, understand what they're talking about. I won't get my hopes up, though. But hell, at least I tried.
"The Republic" by Plato
"The Decline and Rise of Democracy: A Global History from Antiquity to Today" by David Stasavage
"On Democracy" by Robert Dahl
There are thousands upon thousands of books on the subject, but these are three of my favorites.
If you read only one, you should make it "The Republic".

We're just going around in circles here.
