Sometimes they cannot, it depends on the condition that precipitated the colostomy.
In my case, the issue was purely mechanical, a puncture in the descending colon. About 15 cm was removed and after healing, an anastomosis was done, re-connecting the two ends of the colon. Complete recovery took about a year. That was almost fifty years ago and I’ve been healthy since.
An incredibly skilled surgeon, amazing nursing care, strong faith in God and an indomitable will.
As I wrote earlier, it all depends on the individual case. Mine lent itself toward resection, others don’t.
Colostomy. I had one years ago that was reversed after six months or so. Left some cool scars though!
That is so cool , I didn’t know they could be reversed . Praise God !
