It would mostly be a mass die off. Some would survive it but many would not. The aged, weak, young, any with health issues, any that did not store a years worth of food and the means of defending it, anyone in big cities, anyone in dry climate areas (lack of water), not to mention all the people preying on the weaker ones. Stealing their food and water. Hell on earth.
