Let’s just say that I know way, way more than this guy. First off you generally don’t want to exceed Mach 4 at impact for most targets this would be used for. Otherwise the back end catches up with the front end. Under the auspices of range safety, I equipped a Pershing missile with a penetrator rod and shot it into a dome of pure granite. It shattered the top layer and proceeded to go more than 30 additional feet down. The hole was smooth. It vaporized the rock.
Guidance is not that big of problem for stationary targets. They are not meant to take out a missile in the air. And no you don’t need a whole constellation for what we want to do with them.
Their experiment was a joke in so many ways. They probably could have paid to use a rocket sled to “shoot” a few kinds of targets.
Why is it their worst idea?
It’s a great idea, but I am prejudice.
Watch the video to the end. It summarizes the problems.
See above. Not that hard.
