A tax that was supposed to be easy to gaslight, by changing the calculations of inflation (amongst other things), so that even when the people are hurting in their pockets, you could show the numbers and say "See, inflation is low. So whatever is hurting you is you own mistake. Probably time to take up a 3rd job?"
