Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Oh To Be Truly Free. My Morning Bible Read Was Acts 16:16-40, "Paul and Silas in Prison". Verse 25 Says, "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them."

Have a blessed day.
Thank you for these beautiful songs. Charity Gayle is so anointed in her worship and I love Bluegrass. My grandfather was a guitar picker. My brother plays a banjo and my cousin and uncle play mandolin and guitar as well. Can’t get enough of this music ❤️
Yes it is, and it’s that deep cry of the soul that will save our nation from hell.
I absolutely LOVE this song, "Gospel Plow." And yes, I do perform that when playing out around town. I play with a group of long-time friends and associates in folk music circles, and this is one of my go-to songs.
Thank you my friend. It is a lovely Appalachian song. I think I've heard it before. But was great to hear it again. Sorry I missed your post this morning. I'll have to be more observant from now on as General Chat is the first thing I read when I get up. It must have been those half-awake eyes of mine. It don't pay to grow old, but we must all do it. God bless you my friend for thinking of me and TNBanjoMan. I am mighty grateful and I'm sure he is too. Have a blessed day.
Just posted it. Thought I would add a dedication to you after I read that you would be planting potatoes soon. The Gospel Plow seemed appropriate. u/TNBanjoMan provided the bonus song 11 months ago when this Bible read was first posted.
Wow, excellent memory! Another tune I like to play and sing is "Ain't No Grave," and I have sung it at two funerals. I accompany myself on banjo (double-D tuning, using the Dm, G, A chord progression).

Loved this. I needed to hear this today.
Thank you as that song is a blessing over my potato crop. Last years didn't do so good. I may have you post it again for next years crops. i am not using a plow per se, as my son will use his tiller, but it has the same meaning. I love all types of music, as my father's family were all musicians. Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt are actually in my family tree. My great grandmother was a Monroe. My father and his father played fiddle, 2 uncles played guitar/flattop and his mother and baby sister played piano. They had their own family band and my grandfather played at the (old) Grand Ole Opry before it was live at the Old Ryman Auditorium. So music is in my blood. Thank you again my friend. Have a much blessed day.
