These home CNG stations do exist, but they are like $30k atm, so I've never seriously looked at them. I imagine they have a means of mitigating the risk of the higher pressure, perhaps similar to whatever the CNG "gas stations" do. I don't know. But yes, it is not without danger, but if it is pressurizing a very small amount of gas, then the danger would be there but not as great.
Meanwhile a large bank of Li Ion Batteries (or worse tech) is a bomb. No thanks.
