I considered them "edgy" as he was always pushing the boundaries of decency on TV. Unfortunately the rest of the world's attitudes changed and ITV ended up sacking him rather suddenly. He died alone in his chair in a flat near his old studio.
These days if that comedic format was tried again the people involved would probably all be fined or arrested.
