Rolexgate: Six Peruvian ministers resign as lawmakers submit bid to remove president from office
Peruvian President Dina Boluarte replaced six ministers after they resigned as her government is rocked by a political crisis fueled by an alleged illicit enrichment scandal involving luxury watches.
Peru again... Deep dive you ask, I shall take this opportunity for a memory hole moment, hope you don't mind:
I suppose everyone has forgotten Alejandro Toledo (a hero if you don't know). President of Peru when Peru had a President worth the term.
What was Colin Powell doing on September 11, 2001? https://english.elpais.com/opinion/the-global-observer/2021-11-03/what-was-colin-powell-doing-on-september-11-2001.html "Having breakfast. In Lima, Peru."
You can read the article but for those of us who know, Powell ws there to stop Toledo from doing something the Neocons didn't want done. He was essentially under house arrest that am.
(Has to do with: "Three Arabs that traveled through Peru prior to 9/11 using false identification - and some were detained, but some got through - tied to the Sept. 11 attacks on America, Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo told Fox News." Toledo was told to shut up about what else they knew.)
Powell refused to return to DC that am until he signed this IADC WEF/OAS document. That was what he said. Of course, the other agenda.
PS Toledo was set up on corruption charges, (money laundering) which ws actually done by someone else who got off for setting up Toledo, and may have already joined two other heads of state in jail in 2023 for various other charges cooked up. Peru is totally run from "the outside", always has been. He has stalwart supporters, you never know what will break out or when.
I know someone planning to travel there in June.
Anyone haveany thoughts or recommendations about that?
Both I and other family members have traveled there previously without issues.
Just practice the usual safety measures when traveling abroad.
Thanks! I appreciate that.
