Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Jesus did all the law required and did not do what the law forbade. When He died in the place of all the law breakers he killed the system. He was the perfect and final atoning sacrifice to expiate God's wrath toward sin and be the propitiation for the offender. No other offering is necessary for those who claim Christ's work on their behalf. For those who ask God's forgiveness it is given them based on justice being served on Him. It is Finished was not just a statement about His life ending it was the end of the exercise of the law which He fulfilled.
Upon receiving God's forgiveness and Christ's status of righteousness imputed to our records there is no more sacrificial system necessary. God did care about that red heffer back in the Exodus account but now would consider it sacrilege. Of course, the descendents of who murdered Jesus still reject Him so of course they're going to try in their own strength to manipulate God and fail... I'd pretty much agree with your hubby.
Posted this above, thought you may enjoy since you seem to know your stuff
"Of course God doesn't require a sacrifice of some cow because Christ was the final sacrifice, he gave up his Son for us and sacrificed him to forgive all Sin - resulting in the Eucharist which we partake in at the Mass to reaffirm that ultimate sacrifice and to bring us into communion with God through literally consuming his blood and body. So yes, ritual is an important part of worship and it is one of the ways Man can communicate his love and devotion to God in return.
But there may be other malicious demons, or maybe the main one if you know who I'm talking about, who would be delighted with that kind of a 'red heffer' sacrifice, and may even gain some amount of strength through it. And that's the scary part. Who do you think would be thrilled to have an all red cow sacrificed in his name? Doesn't take too many guesses.
May God protect us all."
Love must be just or it's not true. He specifically spared them in the garden and though He loves rightly and punishes sin He is not one to execute people at their first sin.
He "regretted" that He made a very good image bearing creation that chose to believe a lie in opposition to Him. Sure, but how many years did they have Noah warning them that judgement was coming? God gave them time in His mercy and love to respond in love to Him.
Love and wrath can live in harmony.
